for you locals who are interested in the continuing Tom McGee saga
The memo from WHCP-TV management was scanned and posted on an industry messageboard this afternoon. As predicted, WCHP-TV is shutting down its news operations - effective immediately, all their news operations are suspended, and all employees terminated. Apparently Tom McGee (who's been fired at other Charleston tv stations for allegedly drinking on the job, allegedly sexually harrassing female employees, and being arrested for drunk driving after crashing his truck during a police chase) confronted management over the lack of health insurance - which was specified in his contract, and probably needed by him. He had a heart attack a couple of years ago, and had multiple bypass surgery. Anyway, here's a transcript of the memo from the WHCP-TV manager, telling everyone that they were fired.
