Sears Auto Charleston WV tried to rip me off
Today, I wanted to buy new tires for my SUV. I tried one Goodyear store, but the wait was 4-hours, so I decided to see if the same tires were available at the Charleston WV Sears Auto Center. Sears Auto Center Charleston WV wasn't busy (now I know why), so I drove in and asked what tires they had in the correct size. The computer showed they only had two tires in the proper size, so the salesman that greeted us at the drive-in, slightly heavy set with glasses, said "the computer acts up sometimes" and entered a different size code that was one size larger than original equipment. He told me "You should really go with these, they're a more common size, and they'll be easier to get". I told him I didn't want larger sizes, because it would upset the gearing on the car, which was already extremely geared toward economy and not power. He told me, quote, "Oh, the 235's are the same size around as the 225's, just a little wider". I didn't feel like arguing with him, because an obvious misstatement meant he was incompetent or a thief, so I said "thanks anyway", and started to walk away. He assumed a very arrogant, smug attitude, and said, "You'll be back. You'll see".
No, I will never be back to Sears Auto in Charleston WV, because the man in charge is an arrogant thief, or at least, incompetent. I intend to write Sears, and will be able to stop by the Charleston WV Sears for a face to face apology, but I will never buy anything else there, and will write every consumer agency I can find. For someone in an apparent managerial function at the Charleston WV Sears Automotive to openly try to lie to someone like me is wrong, and if I had been someone who wasn't an automotive enthusiast, I might have spent 500 dollars on the incorrect item for my car, and had to live with it for the next 2 or 3 years.
Sears Automotive Charleston WV. Avoid them. They'll rip you off.
